What is CBD?

Cannabis plants contain unique chemical compounds called cannabinoids - CBD or Cannabidiol, is the most researched of these.

CBD is a non-intoxicating, neuroprotective compound with an incredibly high safety profile. It presents significant therapeutic properties as a preventative medicine tool that can be used to help our brain, nervous system and body to a state of balance, harmony and equilibrium called homeostasis.

Our bodies naturally produce endocannabinoids - chemical compounds that carry signals between neurotransmitters throughout our bodies. Based on the body’s feedback, these help regulate and create equilibrium when something is out of balance.

When your body is not able to produce enough endocannabinoids it becomes deficient. This can occur due to illness or disease, trauma, stress, injury, prolonged use of pharmaceutical drugs and impact of lifestyle choices.

When we have a deficiency in producing endocannabinoids we can influence and modulate the function of our ECS by using CBD, a phytocannabinoid, which works like a ‘key’ in the receptor ‘locks’ of our ECS enabling the flow of chemical signals throughout the body again.

In addition to getting your body back to full functionality, CBD packs potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. CBD has also been clinically proven to treat anxiety, movement disorders, and alleviate nerve pain.

Over 140 clinical trials and a mountain of anecdotal accounts from patients and physicians highlight CBD’s potential as a treatment for a wide range of maladies, including (but not limited to):

  • Autoimmune diseases inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis

  • Neurological conditions Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Huntington’s chorea, stroke, traumatic brain injury.

  • Metabolic syndrome diabetes, obesity

  • Neuropsychiatric illness autism, ADHD, PTSD, alcoholism

  • Gut disorders colitis, Crohn’s

  • Cardiovascular dysfunction atherosclerosis, arrhythmia

  • Skin disease acne, dermatitis, psoriasis

CBD’s anti-cancer properties are being investigated at several academic research centers in the US and globally with promising results.
