How did you get your career start?
In high school, I started in the hospitality industry as a hostess, but I didn’t really start my career bartending until I turned 21 years old. At the time, it was just a job while I was completing my BA, but I inevitably fell in love with the field, and decided that it was what I wanted to pursue for my career.
What’s the biggest risk you’ve taken?
Quitting my job last August to go fully freelance as a beverage professional and consultant. It was the scariest decision I’d made in a long time, but I’m so glad that I did it.
The best piece of advice you’ve received?
If there is any doubt, there is no doubt.
What’s been your toughest career challenge?
Learning how to manage people. Learning how important it is to navigate each employee’s needs and wants is incredibly challenging, but it’s so important.
And your proudest moment?
I have a lot of proud moments, honestly. I would say that currently my proudest moment is getting the opportunity to mentor so many awesome bartenders in my industry and help support them in their career.
What advice would you give your much-younger self?
Take time off, find hobbies, and enjoy the process.
Who is a face-to-watch in your industry?
There are so many. In Denver, specifically, I’ll say Jake Powell, the new bar manager at Death & Co Denver.
What’s your favorite oHHo product and why?
Definitely the dark chocolate bars. I am a chocolate freak, so I keep a bar on my bedside table which is great for a pre-bedtime snack.
