In Conversation with Elizabeth Hargraves Mandy
Elizabeth Hargraves Mandy is the artist behind our hand painted body oil collection!
Tell us a little bit about yourself! What got your career started?
I worked for a wonderful antique English furniture dealer in New York City for 3 years and then went back to school for antique restoration, focusing on surface restoration ( gilding, French polishing, painted furniture, lacquer, etc). I’ve had my restoration and decorative painting business for about 25 years and have gone more and more in the direction of fine art. At this point, I would say I love to practice both fine and decorative art.
From where do you draw your inspiration from?
Often from nature. I also have a constantly expanding visual library of books. And I always have my eyes open.
The best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Life is a series of peaks and valleys- the goal is to maximize the peaks and minimize the valleys.
Who is your favorite artist?
Mark Rothko and Barbara Regina Dietzsch, among many.
What’s your most loved oHHo product?
Chocolate. And Body Oil!
